I looked at pictures of gardens online that I love and have become a fan of Gertrude Jekyll. Her philosophy says to place flower borders perpendicular to the line of site.

That goes against my instinct, so it's probably correct. I have already broken that rule once, right off the back porch, so I will try to adjust it, doing things correctly from now on.
I understand your hatred of deer. I was once driven to madness by them. Around here they shoot them regularly so that keeps them skittish.
ReplyDeleteAny plant in the salvia family is deer resistant so are shasta type daisys, lavender, agastache to name a few. Good luck with that project. I also hate Jap beetles.

ReplyDeleteMy instinct would be to create a border that worked as a barrier for the deer, but I'm not a landscape designer. Hard to argue with Gertrude Jekyll--I'd love to have a garden just like the one in this photo!
ReplyDeleteI just left a comment on your Beetle Dance post; I had to laugh at that. I also chuckled on the comment you left me about recording the Cubs games. We haven't done that this year, but we have been known to sit down to watch a game on Comcast Sports and sensing some deja vu until we finally realize it's an "encore" showing of the game we saw the day/night before:)
