I don't start seeds. I've tried, but it just turns out to be a mess... and a waste of seeds and time.
I was shocked yesterday. I went out to Menards to purchase some Poppy seeds so I could snow sew them. Wow. $2.00 per package for annual California Poppies. Sheesh.... That is definitely an increase!
Does anyone else snow sow? I toss poppy seeds and larkspur seeds on the snow layer right before the start of a gentle snowfall in February. The last snowfall we had was not optimal as it was accompanied by 45 mph winds. That would take my seeds to Ohio. No thanks. Snow is forecasted for this weekend again. So I must get some poppy seeds!

ReplyDeleteI don't plant many seeds. I have the same bad experience with seeds that you do. . . just not worth the hassle for me.
I have never tried winter sewing. I hope it works for you.
I've never heard of snow sowing of seeds, but I have the perfect spot for poppie and I'm fascinated with the idea.
