Hello??? Hello? Anybody there??

Sometimes, while searching for recipes or tracking down particular varieties of a plant, I come across blogs that have been abandoned. More often than not, there is no sign as to what happened to the blogger.
The posts just stop. I wonder....what happened?
Don't you? Don't you wonder, is this blogger OK? Still alive??
That is not the case with me. My posts have been coming less often, but to be perfectly honest with you, there isn't much gardening going on here. There are life issues and weighty decisions being made by both children that occupy my time and my mind.
I have come to the realization that those things are not for blogging about.
So, I won't bore you with them.
Until winter releases its grip on my landscape, the posts will be sporadic.
This is how my blog feels, lately.
This is how my daily life feels!
Today, the Darling will commit to the school she liked the most. That will free up some of my time.

I look back at some of my posts and marvel that I really did have time to stare out the windows to watch the birds. I cannot remember the last time I filled the feeders. I must make that a priority today!

Rose M and I are making plans to attend the Chicago Flower show. I found an awesome deal and got tickets 2 for 1! I live 90 minutes directly west of Navy Pier, where the flower show is held, so we'll take the train early in the morning.
I am really looking forward to that.

  8. Sissy, I may be at the flower show as well. We usually go every year. Your posts are always so fun to read - even if less frequent right now.

  9. I know how you feel. I try to fill in with a recipe here and there but otherwise there's not much to blog about in the winter. I have hundreds of bird pictures but that gets old too.
    Can't wait till spring!!

  10. Other things in life have to come first. Mine is not as active either right now. Figure it will be back more by April. Hope things are well and that you have a nice day at the show.

  11. Love your illustrations--I always enjoyed those "Family Circus" cartoons--so true! I've often wondered, too, about bloggers who just "disappear"; I appreciate the ones who leave a note and say they're going to be offline for awhile or who've decided to stop blogging altogether, rather than just leave us wondering what might have happened to them.

Have fun at the Flower Show! My friend and I have decided to go to Indy's Flower Show instead this year--it's closer for us and less expensive in the long run. Looking forward to your photos and seeing what I missed!

  12. I find since Facebook came along, a lot of people have stopped blogging and would rather be on Facebook instead. I've lost a few long time blogging friends over that:-( When I first started blogging I would post every day but gone are those days. I had to learn that it's ok not posting every day:-) The winter months are also quiet and boring usually so not much blog fodder to be had. Have a fabulous time at the flower show:-) xoxo

  13. Life does get in the way -- and a blog is like the child that never grows up. Enjoy the flower show and breathe!

  14. Hope your daughter decides on a school that's a great fit for her. Life often gets in the way of blogging, but it's always there for when you have time. :)

  15. Sissy I hope you have a wonderful time at the Garden Show. They are always so fun this time of the year. We have to have our flowers one way or another. LOL!

  16. I can totally relate to your predicament. I started a full time job last September and since then my priorities have really shifted. My gardening time has been greatly diminished and I'm so behind on blog visiting... But spring is coming and this means longer and warmer days so maybe I can get acclimated and catch up with my gardening friends once again.

  18. I've missed your sense of humor and clever blogging.

Just now I've been checking out blogs that I haven't visited for a while and was sad to see so many abandoned. Facebook and Pinterest almost made me one of those people to give up on blogging. But I do believe I'm back!

    Best of luck to Darling!

  19. I know exactly what you mean! And it's kind of crazy that we gardening bloggers mostly blog in teh summer, when we don't have that much time to sit by a computer. And we don't blog as much during the long winter...what's up with that? LOL.

    Love this post.

Just found your blog, but I'm guessing you too have abandoned it.

  22. There is not much going on here either...sometimes there is NOTHING to post! I have followed a few blogs that just stopped and I have often wondered what happened to those people, especially the ones that commented on my blog or posted so frequently. A mystery for sure! I'm counting down the weeks until spring!
