Borrowed Lens

homemade deck feeder=coffee can lid with thumb tack. Cost=$0, birds love it.

I don't get any good ones like Titmouse or Cardinal or Wren or Flicker.
But I dearly love the ones that do visit me.
Borrowed a friend's 300mm lens. Have to return it today, darn it!

  3. I love to see birds in a garden. We dont have many round here because we live on a building site still! I am hoping when the houses are all completed the birds will come back and visit. There just dont seem to be as many about as there was a few years ago. Your photos are lovely.

Another annoying reason I dislike winter months..Our back yard is such a bird haven in the spring and summer...doves, cardinals, hummingbirds... winter not so much....

  5. We had to stop feeding the birds intentionally because a cat kept using our place as a bird buffet. Grrrr... Our aviary "loses" a lot of seed to doves and assorted other birds and, thus far, they have alluded the neighbor's cat. There's a really fat hawk hanging around though. Hubby said he thinks the hawk is almost too fat to fly.

  7. Our property is wooded, so we get lots of birds in the winter. We go through lots of $ in birdseed too because we love to watch them :-)

Those are great photos --finches are just so sweet looking.

  9. I love bird photos but am rotten at capturing them. Awesome bird feeder!! I saw a bird house online the other day that cost $900. It must have been made for that most peculiar bird, the Rich Sucker.

  14. Love your homemade feeder, Sissy.

I would enjoy having birds near my window, but the squirrels eat all the feed, so I gave up.
