Where ARE they???

Looking at blogs from the Chicago area makes me wonder if something hasn't happened to my bulbs!!
I have found holes in my garden beds and not one crocus is up. Nothing is peeking out at all! I still have snow in my yard, but with it being 50* today and headed towards 60* tomorrow, I will surely find something coming up??
Do voles eat crocus??? I'll betcha I've planted over 500 in the 5 years we've lived here! Could they ALL be gone??

  1. That would be amazing --crocus are the one bulb I haven't had eaten! It took me a few years to find a bed where my snowdrop bulbs would be safe, but no one has ever bothered the crocus (except me, when I forget where they were planted and dig them up to put something else in!).

I'm in northern Illinois, and I just have a few of the yellow crocus peeking out.

  2. I think you'll be seeing green soon. It's chillier where you are than it is in a lot of the Chicago area. Being as far from the lake as you are keeps you cooler. The sun today and the milder temps over the next few days will probably help jump-start your early bulbs.
