Well, this one was right on for me....how about you guys?
According to the quiz you and I hail from the same place.
ReplyDeleteI only call it pop when I'm living near Buffalo; here we call it soda. I was always surprised at the differences in dialect in just over 100 miles.
Another inland Northerner here, Sissy... one who gets funny looks when I say 'pop' in an Austin store. The store signs and some people say 'soda', but most of the Texans just say coke.
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming to my garden blog and commenting!

Inland northerner, as well :-)
ReplyDeleteCarbonated drinks are definitely "pop"! Funny story about that..in high school, I took Spanish. Well, one time the teacher was out and we had a sub. She left us this assignment where we had to translate some text from Spanish to English. It included the Spanish word for pop, or soda (can't remember it at all...see how useful it was to me??) anyway. Someone found the teacher's answer key, and we all copied the translation word for word. Every one of us Michigan-born kids used the word "soda" instead of "pop" in our translations. Busted!
Off topic, but I just wanted to share that :-)
